Baldur's gate 3 sleight of hand.

I have a +17 modifier to sleight of hand rolls with all of my proficiencies, expertise and equipment. Why is it I always fail pickpockets? Is there something I'm missing here? My stealth modifier is also really high, a +18 with Sharts +10 modifier. And before anyone asks, yes I am outside anyones cone of view. Most locks/disarm have that high of a DC (most are between 10-15, with later on a few being 25-30).
